To be honest, the TPS is a bit toothless. Companies are *asked* to abide by the no-call list, but there is nothing to make them. If they choose to ignore it, they will. Or say that you have given permission for them to call (through NOT ticking a box on a form you don't remember filling in 18 months ago) and that the TPS doesn't apply in that case. Or that the TPS doesn't apply because they are based outside the UK. The majority of nuisance calls I used to get were international and had never heard of the TPS (yes, I asked them). It's a great idea, but it relies on cold-calling companies playing nicely, and that tends to be a concept they don't recognise.
