Apparently you can get a loft insulation board that has a silvered coating one side with insulation that you slot between the roof tile beams for insulation and a membrane ?
The roofing membrane on mine is ripped in a fair few places and she was on about this stuff but i am danged if i can find whats shes on about and i seriously doubt she would know what it is called?

It comes in 8 x 4 sheets but your spacings should be around 400mm or 16 " c/c so a sheet is a pretty good size for you to work with . You need to cut it your self but it cuts very easy with a blunt / old hand saw .
I thought kingspan was the more industrial version for warm roofs etc and celotex for the internal insulation but I have been out of the loft conversion game for many years so could be wrong . I normally am

kingspan do both types, as do celotex. the roof on our loft conversion is ply backed with expanded foam insulation by celotex. and the insulation in all the walls is kingspan expanded foam. just depends on the deal the builder gets ;)

I did a DIY job with celotex, to make the loft a bit warmer when offspring had a railway and scalextric race track there.

Excellent stuff. Worked well and fairly easy to cut up to go through the hatch. Presumably helps with the insulation for the present owners.

Did you put boarding over the top of it ?
The loft flooring is pretty good, stanndard loft insulation with decking boards over the top and old carpet on top of that .In fact maybe a bit to good as i have condensation problems which i have been told could be down to the membrane i currently bodged over the holes going right down to the eaves ?

No but I made sure it stayed put with some nylon (type) mesh, then put some printed fabric on top to make it look better.

One thing you have to have in a roof space is ventilation beneath the tiling. When I did my roof in France, 5 years ago, I was puzzled by the ridge tiles they supplied and it turned out they were ventilated ridge-tiles instead of slapping the tiles onto mortar. Nearly all new builds there have them. It works beautifully and I have started to see them in the UK now. Was a bit worried the wind might rip 'em off but the s/s clips seem to do their job well.
