I was a volunteer at the Manchester Commonwealth Games. I drove an anti doping crew around different venues and acted as a chaperone to the selected athletes, to make sure they turned up for testing and that no one gave them anything. My first "victim" was a young Cadel Evens who had just won the road race Gold. While he changed his jersey for the press conference he gave me his Gold medal to hold.

A few years before I was at a concert in Manchester to see King Crimson for the umpteenth time. I ordered a pint of bitter at the bar, whilst waiting the chap behind asked for a glass of milk, I turned to see Robert Fripp standing there. I was too awe struck to speak

Helped get Richard Branson up the highest tree in the city of London as publicity for a greening London initiative.

Also had to keep him hidden from the press while he snug a pee in some nearby bushes. As he said ` they would love a photo'.

As a young bobby I was once stopped and asked for for directions by Ian McCaskill the weather man.

I briefly dated Sonya Kearns who had been in Grange Hill.

As an older bobby I did personal security for such luminaries as Camilla before she was Queen, Home Secretary Alan Johnson, Dale Winton and Rod Hull. Yes, honest.

Telling John Prescott that he was illegally parked, across a junction, and blocking the one on the opposite side of the road.
Then telling him(shouting down his coach) I couldn't speak as an equal as he wasn't born in Yorkshire.

He was doing a round of seats before the local elections, to see problems at a grass root level for himself.
