What road bike with 2k budget?

Just to add on this....could someone explain in laymans terms what if any improvements have been made on the 2016 supersix evo frame

In layman's terms - none. In marketing terms - there's a huge list.
I got a Bianchi Sempre Pro Ultegra, with a great saving, which fits your requirements exactly @shanta.
Absolutely superb bike. Race geometry in a slightly more relaxed style. Basically lets you set up as more of a Sportive or longer distance bike, or slam the stem down and get a racier feel. Very comfortable, great handling and has amazing looks too. Always draws attention, even in predominantly Matte Black. Over your budget in full priced terms, but easily under budget at this time of year.

At this point in time new models are being offered with 11 speed derailleur and disk brakes, it also looks like colour is back. If none of this bothers you the is where you can pick up a bargain, just take into account what Milk Float said about swapping saddle and wheels above because you will most likely do the same.
You could get a Ridley Noah with 10 speed Ultegra for that money here.

I'm an MTB'er first and foremost,so I might not count as a good judge.
But my work colleague bought a bike a while back called a BMC Teammachine.It's beautiful.
My work is on a 2 mile straight stretch of road,and I cheekily asked for a wee shotty which he kindly did.
So with SPD's on one size too big,I shot away and could not believe the speed of this thing.
I can safely say it is a great bike and great looking too.
Pretty sure he said it was around £1700,but I will ask again.

You will get lots of ideas and with 2 two grand you will have quite a selection. For what it's worth I love my Canyon but you have ruled that out so it would have to be the Cannondale Super Six Evo 105 with a nice set of Racing 0 Wheels. Good luck and above all enjoy your search

Buy a £1000 bike and spend the rest on taking it on a couple of foreign holidays. Don't be one of those people who spend £2k on a bike and never go anywhere good on it. When you are old and grey and your cycling days are behind you, you are more likely to treasure your memories of foreign adventures than you are to get misty-eyed with nostalgia about your carbon forks or your top-of-the-range groupset (IMHO).
