It just isn't sorry, bit like Jazz, that's not music either it's just noise, I'm sure if I could be bother to scour the whole back catalogue of both genre I would find a few gems, but I would rather both of them to the Room 101 wheelie bin.In what sense do you claim it is not music?
I'd only take Genesis out of it, simply for the pleasure of discombobulating proponents of ''Intelligent (sic) Design'' and only leaving them the right-wing old-testamentality bits of it.The Bible.
The last two thousand years could have been very different without it.
It's one thing to say that you don't like rap or jazz, but to say they're "not music", well that's just weird. It just isn't sorry, bit like Jazz, that's not music either
I think we can all get behind you there...I'd take Genesis out of it.
Wot, no Petrarchan Sonnets?Abba
LOLthose people who don't have a telly.
Guilty as charged, Rap or speaking fast into the microphone, is not singing, therefore not music, Jazz, 4 or 5 individuals stood together all playing different instruments, different styles, different tunes, is just a cacophony of noise. Let's agree to disagree & move on,It's one thing to say that you don't like rap or jazz, but to say they're "not music", well that's just weird.
That's hardly typical RVW. Listen to the symphonies or the Mass or the Songs of Travel. The Lark ableedinscending (and mid 20th century English pastoralism more generally). Inward looking, dreariness - it's as if VW listenened to Elgar and learned all the wrong
The Lark ableedinscending (and mid 20th century English pastoralism more generally). Inward looking, dreariness - it's as if VW listenened to Elgar and learned all the wrong lessons. None of that fancy dan plinky plonky European stuff for us (VW was scandalized by Ravel on a personal level)!
The weaponized vanguard arts wing of what has now sporulated as the Brexit movement. I just pulled the first YouTube vid I could find and take a look at the imagery..

You'd probably have to listen to the gruesome dissonance of Vaughan Williams' later symphonies to appreciate how far he travelled from tunesmith to doomsmith.

Vaughan Williams is a fantastic composer. Admittedly I'm less keen on his first symphony but the rest are fantastic. Hey, Beethoven's first is hardly up the the standard of the rest, jolly as it is. And VW's fantasia on Thomas Tallis is one the the most achingly beautiful pieces of music ever written if you avoid the classic fm style cheesy versions
