The size of the screen doesn`t improve the crap they put on it you knowWe are having a make-over..............new fire-place, carpets and furniture etc. We are getting rid of the full length stone fire-place which looked good when built in the 80s.........this will give space for a larger TV.
The room is quite large e.g. I tend to sit on the settee......approx. 5 metres from the TV.
Our present TV is good and is 42"
We are thinking 50/55" but its one of those things...........
what if we buy the 55" and find it's too big
What if we buy the 50" and later think we really should have gone bigger
Anyone gone bigger ?? how big ? any opinions ?
That was very good and answered many of our questions..........thanks.55" sounds about right.

I worked for 50 years. I'm retired. I have time to watch sport & documentaries (I never watch soaps etc.)............I play golf twice a week and cycle when the weather allows, we go walking & bird watching (not twitchers)..........I think I have "a life"0 and get your life back and save £145.50
Do you have a scientific argument for that i.e. have you put, say a 32" next to a 55" and checked if its the same crap ? You may be surprisedThe size of the screen doesn`t improve the crap they put on it you know![]()
If you have a living room the size of Yorkshire then that would make perfect sense!Only goes up to 75"
Samsung now have a 170" TV
Crikey! I sit ten feet away from a 22" telly. I think I had better get a telescope.Optimal screen size is half the distance you are from screen. I am 64 inches and have a 32 inch telly and it works. My dad is 100 inches and has a 50 inch telly. And it works.
There is some science involved but I can't bleedin find it
