Just picked up a second hand bike trailer for the kiddies and the tyres are cracked and split (from the looks of things just been parked up for too long as the rest of it is lovely)

The tyres on there are 20 x 2.125- do I have to replace it with this size? or is there limits to work within- e.g. seen some offers for 20 x 2.0 online which is very close but not the same.

Hi,

20" is the standard size for for BMX and a lot of folders, loads of tyres
you could use as you don't have to keep to the same tyre width.
Anything above 42mm will be fine, 47mm very common.

You do want a tyre with a hard centre compound.designed to roll.
You don't really need high pressure with two say 47mm tyres
that will be only supporting a relatively low childs weight.

Budget these will do the job :

These aren't really designed for the job but the 1.85" is good value :

Schwalbe make trailer specific tyres and I've actually got the Tracer
on the back of by folder, however I can't find it for sale anywhere .
Great tyre : http://www.schwalbe.co.uk/special-purpose/tracer/
With the raised slick centre section and Liteskin walls it really rolls.
