Squash is mate, I was watching some last night.

There is one glaring omission from the Olympic programme.....

..... SQUASH!!

Why that isn't an Olympic sport I really don't know.

Also, the Tug O' War.

Anyway....





Things like Shinty, Hurling and that one that is meant to be the fastest sport in the world (I can't remember the name) too.



Also things like the assault course, the sack race, the three legged race, the wheelbarrow race, throwing beanbags into hoops at various distances, and of course, the event where the Athlete's parents/relatives/friends of the family have to run a race (non athletes only, just to give the average person on the street at least one chance to win gold, although age categories might have to be part of it).

All competeted in a kit of shorts, tee - shirt and a coloured band over their shoulders, except for the relative/friend race, where they would have to compete in normal clothing.

I thought you meant Knots And Crosses played on a giant board made out of snow!!

Now, whilst we are at it, if we have knots and crosses, how about others like a Soduku event? Crosswords? An 'Enigma Code' event? All go be completed in the quickest time possible obviously.

And even then, why not have others like a Rock Paper Scissors event or...... The ultimate..... A Staring competition??!!

I saw the Squash at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, and it was definitely worth seeing in person.

The earlier heats were played in the individual courts/rooms, and were all alongside each other (in two individual blocks admittedly). Add to that, the corridor being quite narrow, there being an accending tier of 4 or 5 seats in this corridor, making it even narrower and the fact that all the athletes who still had to compete were there waiting alongside the rest of us mere mortals...... I don't see how we could have got any closer to watching them!

Then, in the main arena, there was a huge glass box for the later stages and finals. With it all lit up in a similar way to how the fencing is, the players shooting about at warp speed and a ball going at ludicrous speed*, it genuinely looked utterly extraordinary!!

I would definitely recommend it, even if, like me, you aren't a fan of it!


* - It certainly would be Spaceballs if one hit you down below if you get my drift!
