Good idea. On those rare occasions that a victim gets hold of Johnny Scumbag and beats him to a pulp they can claim it's their job.
There's a fine line between being amusingly OTT, and being a tit.
Guess which side you're on?

I though car thieves were a bit of an anachronism these days? What with deadlocks and immobilisers and whatnot. I'd read somewhere that modern cars are very difficult to actually steal (short of winching them onto a lowloader I guess

Nicking stuff out of cars is a different matter. But integral radios etc must be a bugger to get out and what do folk leave that's valuable in a car anyway. If they're desperate for my can of deicer and a half-eaten packet of haribos then good luck to them

They break in the house and knick the keys. Most people leave their keys in easy reach of a pole and hook through the letter box

Quite a few car thieves have now gone hi-tech, and just hack the car and drive off, seeing as many top of the range cars don't have ignition locks or conventional keys.

It's big business. The joyriders and radio thieves of the 80s and 90s are long a thing of the past. Cars are stolen to order, keys nicked in a burglary, or on some models a whole new ECU fitted and off onto a RO-RO to the continent/further afield. Big, organised, lucrative, sophisticated. And yes, professional.

You can easily buy the kit off the net to nick virtually any vehicle now - little electronic box of tricks and you're away. Cars with keyless entry / start buttons are the easiest of the lot...even ones with the high security ratings...

the urge to thump a criminal who's offended against you
I have this urge.
Should I ever meet who stole my bike :boxing: in spite of me being 5ft nothing and having never, ever, hit anybody I will thump them!
Might do the same to the very kind policeman that keeps emailing "case is closed, nothing else I can help you with" after yet another bike got taken from my work.
Harumph!!!
