I'm amazed how many don't eat breakfast before the commute. I assumed it was a vital part so before riding in always choke down a bowl full (even though my stomach doesn't like it at that time of the day).

I might liberate myself and have breakfast at work tomorow.

Used to be an early riser but I'm fighting against it as I get older. Haven't set an alarm for almost 10 years (except when I need to get to an early ferry for holidays). Up about 8:15; make tea for SWMBO; coffee and breccies for me; SSS; catch end of BBC news; 9 minute walk to office for 9:45 start; coffee on arrival.

I am hoping that when the spring arrives I will be quicker at getting ready.

It takes a reasonable length of time to get on 2 pairs of socks, shoes, overshoes, jacket, windproof gillet, raincoat, beanie, helmet and gloves! (I already have on bib tights and base layer)

I enjoyed my lie in option today; I just couldn't face getting out of bed and in to the cold. I listened to 3 tracks on the alarm clock instead and didn't get up til after 7:25. I didn't leave the flat till after 7:55, unlocked the bike from the shed put the lights on and was away by 8:00. I got to the works garage at 8:17 and I was still in the office before most folk.

I do eat breakfast, but I find that at 5.15 in the morning, I just need a small bowl of cerials or a slice of toast - can't eat much more at that hour. Then by 9-9.30 at work, I'm ready for a mid-morning snack.

Couldn't leave the house without eating something though.

I tried eating breakfast before cycling when I first started in 2006, but my stomach didn't like it. Stitches and trapped wind were the results every morning, so now I eat when I get to work. I'm only on the bike for between 30 and 40 mins so the orange juice does me fine !

Hour lie in tomorrow.I leave at 445am.

I've been leaving home earlier this week so I can bag one of the instruments in the lab and get my samples loaded before anyone else gets in. I haven't been getting in really early, just early enough so I get to my desk at about 7:50. I don't get up any earlier, I just made the routine a bit more efficient.

It's great, Monday to Thursday there's less traffic in the morning. I get to leave earlier so it's almost light. I've asked to permanently change my hours, I'll be able to take the long route home before it gets dark in three weeks.

Weird thing is I used to wonder why Friday mornings were so quiet- evidently every bugger drives to work 40 minutes earlier on a Friday.

Alarm at 6.20, up at 6.30. Aim to have breakfast and be out the door at 7.00 for work at 8.00ish.

Actually start work at 8.30 so this gives me time to grab an extra breakfast, have a sit down, and generally pfaff around a bit.
