What to buy when in the USA

Off to Boston in a few weeks to catch up with family and looking at bike stuff when over there.

Thus far castellie gabba, trike trainer( for harsh winter months), 2xu compression tights are possibles.
Will review shoes when I get there I think.

Anyone know of a wiggle or chain reaction i could review. Google I find is not your friend as it just turns up a few shops which I am sure there are many more. Amazon ok but again would rather bike specific place to view so I can see if other bargains about.

After a short and long sleeve jersey with front pocket.

Does anyone have exp of pearl Izumi outlet stores over there?

I looked in bike shops when in NYC, they were really poor and no cheaper!

That said I did buy a couple of bits from PI at an outlet mall somewhere a few years ago and the Gilet is fantastic and was on the clearance rack so $25 IIRC. I don't recall the rest of it being much cheaper though than here (although £ now stronger)

You could try Sports Authority but again not great. Or a Trek concept store, ditto

I Actually found them far more expensive then similar gear in the UK.

Remember the £ is strong currently, and getting stronger - so there will be bargains.

That said, rarely on bike stuff - other than generally, US made brands.

The Internet has generally killed off bargains/ levelled playing field while travelling, with a few exceptions such as electronics equipment in Hong Kong.

I don't bother even looking now, just order what I want online instead.

You might find under armour compression stuff is cheap, but only at an outlet mall. The advantage of MA over NY is no sales tax on clothing (or at least that was the case when I was there last, but 5+ years ago, so check)

Shimano seems more expensive

Did you pay VAT/import duty when importing it to the UK?

For a one-off personal bargain (that will get through customs without a huge box) something like a Stages power meter might be a good buy over there. I'm sure they sell for $700 dollars v £600 over here. I've never found clothing to be a better deal over there.
