What to do about this really bad LGV close pass?

This happened to me today - I'm in 2 minds to report it to the Police or not. I obviously have his reg/company name/face etc so IDing him is not a problem however as of late I've had bugger all luck reporting directly to companies.

Police or not? We don't have roadsafe so it would have to be to an ordinary traffic cop who are thankfully OK around here. It put the fear of all that is Holy up my bibshorts as it were, it was the only time I've ever been properly scared on the road by something somebody else has done.

Apologies in advance for the F-bomb at the end, I wanted to blank it out but apparently Windows Movie Maker isn't that good!

How did you know where to go to catch up with him?

I didn't, I just saw he had pulled in behind the pub. Usually i'm too slow to catch people up so I wasn't going to let it slide. Why do you ask?
Because after the close overtake, you went at Benny Hill speed and it was difficult to see how you managed to track him down.

 I sped the video up x4, I didn't know how fast it would look until I rendered it so I just picked x4. Next time i'll do it quicker so it doesn't look like me just riding faster  If I could ride at 40mph then I'd be chuffed

I wasn't saying you had moved out just saying Rule 163 was ignored there.

Would have been better for a pass like that.
He was far too fast. Contact the company, it'll be on his tacho.
I have done this in the past (the other close HGV pass on my channel) but it was ignored 6 times so I'm sort of reluctant to go down that route again because I get the immediate impression I'd be better off pissing into the wind. The only company who has actually actively responded and dealt with me properly was Arriva and they sided with me, not their own driver!

No no, not at all, I agree with what you said - I moved out further down but that was so I wasn't in the door zone but that wasn't what he meant. He meant (I presume) that I had moved out in front of him, which sort of makes me think even if I had he wouldn't have been able to stop, and I'd be picked up with a sponge afterwards....

The pass was dangerous,so no excuse, these people just take risks with other peoples lives and to hell with it.

Reckon it's worth reporting to the Police as well as the company then?

The question is for anybody else as well, actually. Be nice to have a survey of who thinks I should report it to both, either, none, etc.

Hard to say IMHO as I reckon nothing will be done by plod unless it's a more serious incident.maybe worth reporting to the company.I reckon a bit of driver education is the way forward.

You've spoken to him, you've got video.

He'll be expecting you to report it to the company is my guess.

When the Arriva driver tried to intimidate me last month, he clearly knew he was getting reported and had already got a written statement for his bosses when my complaint came through!

That must have been quite exciting!, some of the cyclepaths alongside the 60/70mph roads here have you passed by articulated lorries and the draught is crazy.

Just an observation, that it doesn't look from your camera like you shouldercheck a lot which I find makes things a bit less scary and also easier to preemptively brake and hug the gutter.
