This weekend my other half is off to NYC with work. Hmph...

So I am not going to sit around waiting for the drunken texts! Thinking of either getting an easyjet flight over to Amsterdam, there and back same day; have done that before it was a laugh. Or Coppenhagen, it's a short flight and the city is just a couple of miles from the airport. Or Eurostar to Paris which is more expensive but a bit less stressful than queuing with the easyjet pikeys at Gatwick.

Any other ideas? It needs to be a one day thing as I have dogs and can get the dog walker in during the day but can't leave them over night. I'm in London and want to do something a bit different, that's not hugely expensive.

When I'm bored, I go for a ride or a walk. Not take a flight to another country. Must be a class thing.

Stay at home and watch lezzer porn all weekend.

ride to dover, get a ferry over to Calais as a foot passenger, ride into Belgium, grab a Jupiler or two, ride back to Calais and get the ferry back. train or ride back to London.

you should be back in time to get a curry and feel good about it

God it gets worse!

Lose the Jupiler and the mayo, get some proper beer and the job's a good un.

worse? jupiler was sent by the gods to quench a proper thirst. has a nice side of getting you slightly drunk too.

and as for mayo, beats ketchup any day of the week, in actual fact ketchup makes me xx(

but you pays your money and makes yer choice. start sampling the many delights of the beer market over there and you may need more than a day

Prepare a surprise for your other half by cleaning your abode from top to bottom, and have it sparkling clean for their return. An old toothbrush makes an ideal scrubbing implement for those hard-to-reach places around the taps and overflows. I suggest Pledge or Mr Sheen for woodwork, and newspaper with vinegar is ideal for cleaning your windows.
Failing that, get out on the bike.
