I'm itching to get started sowing my veggies for this year. Any recommendations on what I should be able to get going - both in the greenhouse and maybe even out?

I know nothing about growng fruit and veg. Feels like its something we should all be doing though.

Cant beat tomaties, peppers and chillies imo!

We're still getting frosts so I have the first earlies chitting on the window sill and will probably pop them in the greenhouse in a couple of weeks time.

No point in putting out stuff too early as the cold knocks them back IMHO.

leeks (indoors)... so you can plant them out in June or thereabouts.
... and parsnips soon outdoors, but not quite yet.

We tidied & pruned & mulched the fruit bushes this afternoon, it was sunny & felt like spring (only 5C max though), far too early for sowing/planting anything outside. But the tatties are chitting away  .

My broadbeans and garlic have been in since Nov I think ... the beans are about 4 inches high now .... the garlic suffered a bit more in the cold weather.

But I've gone off the boil since and haven't even ordered any seeds for this year.

Oh dear, any reason why?

I do forget - I've had onions, garlic and broad beans in since November. Feels a bit early to be putting tomatoes and chillis in, but I think I'll go for leeks and Brussels.

No I just meant it's slipped to the back of my mind with other things in life clamouring for attention. However now is the time to bring it back to the top of the pile.

Has anyone any good suggestions for Tomato's to try both for in and out of the greenhouse (though we have had tomato blight for the last 3 years outside the greenhouse - so if there are any recommendations for a nice tasty blight resistant variety so much the better). Preferably the little cherry tomato's as I love picking a couple straight from the garden which never make it into the house.

Broad beans, garlic, shallots can all go in now - broad beans may need to start in pots in the greenhouse (if you have one).
Herbs can also be done from seed now in trays inside, as can flowers (if you want to grow them).
