What Touring Bike + Buy or Build

Looks good kimma if it's the right size. Orbit's a good touring make.
Converting to STI (Brake-shifters) is gonna cost £150 ish. Not worth it. Down-tube (DT) shifters are fine, simple and reliable and real easy to use.
I have a 531 touring bike project on the go and I shall stick with DT shifters...less to go wrong in the middle of nowhere!

hmm, I think you've got LESS control in traffic if you're sitting down and using the tops, much better to be standing up and using the hoods. But not to argue on the newbs thread, so as you were.
