Don't suffer fools gladly (must try harder!)
Black Earth Rising got off to a promising start, succeeding (well mostly) in avoiding the obvious stereotypes. Harriet Walter, as always, is a class act.

Tried the second bite of Wanderlust last night and we have bailed out here.

Ludicrously pathetic dialogue between the two leads and the crass cliched sex scenes were pitiful. Not that we tune in specifically for the latter but if they are part of the storyline we prefer them to be well done - after a frantic rip their clothes off 'quickie' the male lead standing there holding a used condom whilst asking his partner in lust what to do with it is frankly absurd.

Big thumbs down in our household.

Got this on record - is there anything particularly harrowing in it so far?

Lovely Wife is not keen on such things but would otherwise watch it.

Given that it's grounded in the Rwandan genocide, it's actually quite restrained (so far, at least).

Finished off series 3 of Stan Lee's Lucky Man on Now TV.

They could (and probably should) have finished this off after S1, but it was such a hit it's no surprise they kept it going. S2 took a dive in terms of story and production values, but S3 saw at least a partial return to it's former pomp and was much more watchable as a result. Just overlook the occasional gaping plot hole and all will be fine.

It has reached a logical conclusion now, but it's been left open enough for S4 if the execs want it, possibly with a new cast.

Best supporting actor goes to Jimmy Nesbitt's weave.

Watched Trust last night with Donald Sutherland - all about the legendary Getty and his peculiarities.

Enjoyed it.

Except for the squashed Swan scene.

No Offence. The first episode of the new series hasn't even finished yet and it's already leapfrogged Bodyguard to the best show on the box at the moment title.

It's quite sweary though.

Half way through season 6 of Suits so I hope seasons 7 & 8 become part of Prime soon.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
The Plague. A gruesome series that is coming to an end. I have recorded the last 2 episodes of this rather gruesome but excellent sort of who done it in 16th Century Spain suffering the ravages of the plague.

In Spanish with subtitles. I love this series and can't wait to watch the last 2 episodes probably this afternoon.

The Purge (Amazon Prime) - loved the movies, especially the original, so was interested to see how this translates to a series.
On the basis of the first episode the jury is still out - clearly there is a scene to set, but it seems a bit slow so far. Worth trying episode 2 though and see how that goes.
