We used to order from Laithwaites and the Sancerre and Viognier wines were very good. Expensive in supermarkets though. Like white Chilean Sauvignon or red Merlot. Some nice wines at M&S.
Like champagne very much, Lanson black label or GH Mumm but only at Christmas or special occasions.

Laithwaites margins on their top line price are eye wateringly large, at their discounted prices they are reasonable, but don't fall for the marketing ploy of "price it high to knock it down". - the real value price is the discounted price. Nothing wrong with the wines, but the ploy is clear.

I have tried but can never find the wines Laithwaite sell (the are btw behind most of the newspaper wine clubs etc) elsewhere to compare prices - the wines ARE available but Laithwaites have the buying power to get them produced under their own specific labels, hence preventing any price comparison

I've got some of the 1986 Musar - and it's drinking brilliantly.

I hate you! ^_^
My wife, who is the wine expert here and is a Maitre de Vin, refuses to drink French wine unless another idiot buys it, hence we have one Malbec everyday, and one Malbec Reserva for feast days.

I'll drink most stuff as long as it's not French and preferably beer.
It is well-rounded and subtle, but flavoursome. Consistently of good quality - as two years of experience will testify. This is the wine I measure all other red wines up against. The prime indicator. As there are more wines out there than i'll ever taste, or remember, i try to have in mind specific wines which are, in my limited experience, indicative of their type. This one is a good, middle of the road, maintainer of quality that will be a pleasure to drink with or without food.

Prefer red to white, don't like sparkling wine, even champers. Don't really like rosé either.

Had a really lovely red once at a mates house, called oomu or something like that, I think it was Australian. At the time i liked it so much I went out the next day to buy some more and could only order it by the crate...I didn't bother.

Wish I had now.

Bad andouillette smells disgusting and tastes almost as bad, but good andouillette is a very fine thing
