Well, we seem to be a pretty hardy bunch!

Maybe we ought to arrange a rendezvous location now, and all make our way there in the event of An Event.

I think I feel pretty confident that NT and I could survive in terms of food and drink and shelter and stuff if we were in medieval or stone age conditions, especially in a small community of like minded people. What I fear more in the the breakdown of modern 'civilisation' is the initial period of chaos, when the bullies take over, and use force to get the stuff they need. Chances are they'll only think short term (grab all the supplies in shops and warehouses and protect them with guns), but in the process, they could well do a lot of damage to those of us who just need to get through that time and settle in for the long run.
Whohh. I thing I've just stumbled into an episode of The Walking Dead. I'm going to back out really carefully and shut the door really, really quietly.

No carpenter here, but I can still use a chisel, and properly. Learnt it at school, really helps if the boss decides that a door need re-hanging.

Used the skill nearly 25 years later recently, spot on. No mess.

I can sharpen my chisels sharp enough to shave with.

I can do likewise with any edge tool, or sword for that matter.:ninja:

What are your preferred brand or do you make them yourself?
Me?
Being a poor person I currently use a set of Bahco chisels I got cheaply at a tool fair.

I also have a range of other old chisels and plane blades but I do look out for Sorby blades.

I have made my own cold chisels for masonry work.

I can make my own dung, and it's unskilled labour, without sophistication.

Has that lowered the tone enough, or are we capable of worse?

Oh, I expect we could manage lower if we tried.

It strikes me we're short of medical knowledge, although a modern doctor isn't going to be much use once the drugs run out. We need a herbalist really.
And I'm quite good at making chutney!
And what is surviving worth, without chutney!

Ok, we have a medic (although he'll need to re-train as a herbalist) and a head of Army.

To compliment Mort, we need a cheese maker. Blessed are the cheesemakers.
