One problem, who would be able to provide the Internet service so that CC can continue?

We'd just have to use carrier pigeons. It would run a bit slower, but on the other hand, you'd always have a snack handy.

Although would the snack bit be sustainable after a while when most of them have been snaffled?

I feel we would need a system in place to prevent it from happening.

I think pigeons can be quite prolific breeders....

But could they breed fast enough? And also, just think about all the ones you'd loose to other people out trying to get some food too!

I feel we might need some alternative carriers just in case.

We used to breed them for food. There was more then enough to go around even though we also ate the eggs every now and again.

I was going to add that I can do maths with a chalk and slate, or a stick and some dirt.

A bit Ray Mears but I can start a fire with flint and steel or bow drill (rubbing sticks together) cook over said fire or make a pit oven for joint's of meat.
Fashion a shelter from natural materials, basically all that bushcraft stuff.

Doomsday Preppers?, is that the programme? These people have got backyards the size of small countries filled with every bit of survival kit under the sun. The episode I saw, they were collecting seeds for their seed bunker.

I think in many ways it is sensible, or at least being ready is.

If something simple like a financial failure, like the great depression, occurred then we could easily be in the position of only being able to eat what we could grow and use what we could make. Being in IT or the Media may not be a survivor skill when you need to be able to sew, grow veg, cook and make fire.

Having healthy seed banks and paper based knowledge is going to be more useful then cloud computing.
