I bought a Puch Pacemaker 5 or 6 speed 'racer' in a bronze sort of colour with black bar tape and those funny extra brake leavers on the bar tops.
I saved up all my Saturday job money, plus the money I earned in the school holidays by walking dogs for 50p per hour. I was so chuffed with that bike. My Dad had a bike shop so I did get a 10% discount.

My first proper bike was a black Puch Prima Super12. Took me months to save up for it. It was thoroughly used and abused throughout my teenage years, and was eventually replaced by an F W Evans Standard Tourer.

My first new bike was an apollo something from Halfords, bright orange! But I was 10 so it was 'cool'

First bike I bought for myself was a Dual suspension mountain bike, seemed like a good idea at the time

I still have the first bike I bought with my own money. It's this which I bought new in 1998:

Since this picture was taken in 2010 it has had a number of changes and is now a 24 speed with mountain bike chainset.

Previous bikes were presents and only one of those (a Dawes Junior Kingpin) was new.

My 1st bike was a Raleigh Ranger

I had one of those, I think. Was it metalic blue with white handle bar grips, tyres, saddle. Had full metal mudguards and a little rack on the rear. Was classed as a pavement cycle.

The first bike I bought with my own money was a Peugeot racer burgundy with a black suede saddle. I rode it 20 miles a day 5/6 days a week for nearly 2 years. In that time I only got a handful of punctures and only ever replaced the rear tyre. I wish I never skipped it about 5 years ago.

Found a picture very similar to mine didnt have a bottle cage, bar tape was cream, and id didn't have those lazy brake levers but the rest was similar. Never did know if it was a good bike but I liked it.
