Brown 1972 Ford Escort, 1100cc,
Cost £100 and came with over 100,000 miles on the clock.
85mph (downhill with a following wind)
I had up to 9 people in the car (including 2 in the boot) and travelled all over the UK.
I had it for 7 years and sold it for for more than I had paid for it (although I'd had a lot of welding done due to rust)

My Dad had a V reg Datsun Bluebird, metallic brown with a lighter brown vinyl roof, mechanically super reliable but it rotted away.
Mine was an early Nissan. 1.6 SOHC. Carb of course. But did have power windows. An absolute treat... It just fell upon me at the right time or else i would never have gone near one.

Here's a post from a similar thread from 2014 called Car History. I'm still driving the Note.

Triumph Toledo
Triumph Spitfire
Triumph Stag
Citroen CX
Renault 25
(It all gets a bit hazy from here on, the Acclaim and the Laguna may be the other way around, I can't really remember. I can remember the reg numbers of all the cars above but not much at all about all the cars since)
Triumph Acclaim
Renault Laguna Estate
Some Japanese Estate, possibly a Toyota of some sort, only had it about two months, it was a very cheap stop gap buy and not long after getting it someone drove into it damaging the front wing, and a couple of weeks later it expired, the engine giving up the ghost in a cloud of smoke.
Nissan Micra
Nissan Note

Reliant Regal Supervan 111. I only had a bike licence at the time so couldn't have anyting with an extra wheel. I have quite fond memories of the old heap, the joy of arriving at work on an icy winters morning without being in agony as my fingers thawed out.

With the front seat backrest down there was also room for some sinful activity of a night, this being in the days when a young man with any kind of car was a catch for a young lady.

First car that was actually mine was a beige Ford Fiesta 1.1 popular plus
TKA133T

Ran great - wings rusted a lot - that stuff that treats rust and stops it coming back - doesn't

First car that I drove a lot was actually my Mum's - a 2CV - wonderful thing - loads of character
max speed 62
0-60 speed was listed in one car mag as 'probably'
My Dad insisted on getting rid of it after a few years on the - rather silly - grounds that the brakes were rubbish
dunno what he was going on about - they stopped that car nearly every time you put your foot on the brake pedal
The other times you just got a grinding noise
But it only failed to stop the car on a second go once - and in that case the third go worked fine
For a teenage boy that seemed good enough!!!!

1968 MkII Cortina 1300. My dad had bought it new, then after a fair number of years and about 50,000
miles it started to jump out of fourth gear, but instead of getting it fixed he bought another car: an utterly horrible Daf rubber band drive, and intended to fix the Cortina himself. About 6 years later, I'd passed my test so took it upon myself to get the Ford fired up (new battery, plus, points) pass an MOT (new exhaust, tyres and full break overhall/rebuild) then finally put in a new gearbox to make it usable. The replacement very cheap rebuilt box lasted another 50,000 miles of my ownership, the same as the brand new one had. I think the 3rd box was a mash up of two to make up one good one. I loved that car and learnt about fixing cars. It was totally reliable, in that it always got me there even if things needed mending from time to time. It was incredibly easy to work on and parts were ridiculously cheap. Picture below is of the much more desirable 1600E version but apart from the wheels, bigger engine, webber carb, and rear suspension upgrade, mine looked just like that
