What will the U.K. be called after Scotland leave?

Boorish and gentlemanly, most assuredly, but we never claimed or aspired to be otherwise. The problem with calling someone out is that they may already know, and they may not care what you think. To believe otherwise is a level of self directed flattery as misguided as the very ramblings with which you took umbrage.

Am I the only one who thinks the vote is a missed opportunity to call Andy Murray a fading Scottish tennis player?

Is your argument that someone intending to be objectionable precludes anyone taking issue with that poster being objectionable?

I think that's supportable in a private context, or in the acknowledged "bearpit" forums - I'm not sure that it holds up in Café (see caveat below, however).

I hope I don't do you a disservice with the assumption, but from what little I know of your persona on Cyclechat, I thought that would be the case. Hope springs eternal, I suppose, and again, as this isn't a private conversation, there's a rationale that supports making the arguments in any case.

I'm not sure I understand the first part of that - the second, (being misguided), perhaps. I've not been back long, and Café may well be the sort of place where this kind of thing passes without comment these days.

You know life has dealt you a bad hand if you have to resort to dissecting my diatribe for something to do. I don't take my ramblings remotely seriously so you can imagine my surprise that there's someone out there with a life so unfulfilling that they feel the need to ascribe meaning to any of the guff that erupts from the squalid and fevered depths of my non imagination.

Actually, no. I felt bad about being flippant earlier, and as you had troubled to offer an argument, I responded in kind.

My mistake, evidently.

Indeed! I can talk the most utter drivel, the most ridiculous pants, the most extreme rot, and my capacity for such tiresome crap is limitless.

But I freely admit it, making attempts at admonishment a bit misguided.

You may find the "Ignore" function serves well to preserve any sanity you may have remaining, although spending considerable time telling a self confessed fool that he is a fool would suggest that you may not have much left, so time is short!

We're going imperialist again? I'd better brush off my pith helmet.

Well I was aping a certain black President, but it seems my black humour was lost in a world of seriousness and thus deleted.

We know, can't you do it elsewhere though?

Please?

I bet that the fact a Scotsman has won Wimbledon in this modern era really sticks in some folks craw  love it. However we do love to get right behind our sports folk in the UK and they are free to voice an opinion without being slaughtered for it.
