The weather looks good up here. I'm going to be cycling.

It isnt the end of the Mayan calendar, it is the end of one summester (or something like that). It doesnt tell of the world ending, someone has just got confused somewhere and though that it is going to cause the world to end.
There is nothing scientific to prove that there will be anything apocoliptic happening on that day.

It will just be a normal Friday afternoon.

You hope.

I'm at work, and then catching a train to Manchester. If I have to get one of the crowded ones and have to stand all the way, the end of the world might be light relief....

Anyway, if it ends at midnight Mayan time, it won't be until 5 or 6am next day for us....

Must remember to set the alarm so I don't miss it....

Isn't the end date of the Mayan calendar supposed to 24th December, but someone a few decades ago decided to tie it in with the winter solstice?

Then again, Christians shouldn't be celebrating 25th December either as that date has been "altered".
Anyone know this? I need to plan, is the 21st the last day or is it the 20th? Or is it the 24th? I need to know, I have plans to make.

Bad luck, mate. I'm stuck on the social and having to postpone all present buying until I've got a bit of money. It does sometimes feel like the end of the world would take away a lot of the worry, doesn't it?

not wanting to turn this into a pythonesque "you were lucky, in my day..." kind of thing,

I'm out of work and can't claim as I've only ever had part time (nearly full time but not constant shifts) at minimum wage since finishing uni in 2009 so I've not paid enough in, they're not even sure if they can cover my NI contributions until I find a job and start paying it for myself.

It really is an issue

Do I dress for a cold or warm climate?

I think layering is the key.. Just make sure the base layer can work as a swimsuit as well. Just in case!
