What would happen if we told the truth the whole time?

I know somebody like that; admirable but a right pain because it becomes a kind of mission to contradict and correct people.

Seriously, while it sounds like a great idea coming out with what your real opinion or thoughts are could quickly lead to all hell breaking lose imo.

Whose truth are we talking about? An honest opinion isn't always the truth.

Now if you're talking about being authentic then that's cool. I've learnt a lot from my wife's friend Brene Brown (google her Ted talk) who has researched the negative impacts of always saying what we think people want to hear, rather than expressing what we really think.
I say I have learnt a lot, I have yet turned it into a real practice.
I still find a 'yes dear' works easier than explaining why I'd rather not do something.

I have not been playing away, I am not the love-child of John Major and Lenny Henry, I have not robbed £50M from the Bank of Japan. (That's enough caveats).

That's enough! 'Crock' and John 'pants' Major have something in common. They are both partial to a nice curr....therein lies the connection!

Diplomacy would become more difficult. I guess it depends on where you know you lie already, and what sort of an impact you could foresee telling the truth having. How would you tactfully handle situations?

I usually try to be tactful and/or diplomatic all the time. But I have noticed that sometimes people mistake my tactfulness for indecision.

So I have decided that in certain circumstances with some people, they will have to accept the possibly harsh truth, as they are incapable of accepting that someone is entitled to an opinion that differs from theirs. I have obviously failed to communicate with them, and they only hear what they wanted to hear me say.

Are we talking about telling the truth or saying what you think? Not at all the same thing!

Some that pride themselves on saying what they think are equally dangerously close to admitting their ignorance! Imho of course ;)

So the real question is 'What would happen if we gave our honest opinion on every question posed?'

On the plus side I'd probably get rid or irritating peanuts much more quickly.

On the down side, I'd probably lose my wife...........
