Whats eating my seedlings?

Springs really amazing, my veg has just started to sprout, however something out there is taking grate pleasure over chomping through my pea and sunflower seedlings.

The pea seedling are protected by a pop bottle that I'm using as a little green house. Its been chomped down to soil level, nothings left but a little stalk. I seem to have some kind of midnight raider.

Does anyone have a clue what it could be?

Or very leetle pigeons.

Little black slugs, they live in the soil. Or those brown ones. Or baby snails. Any of these could munch seedlings. Baby snails do look cute though :-)

Slugs I'm sure... you could try some of those organic slug pellets that are meant to be wildlife friendly.

(Yeah wouldn't be baby snails they look far too cute to do any damage)

How can they be wildlife friendly when they are killing slugs and snails and stuff?

Mice ! They love pea seedlings and will burrow from underneath. Had the same problem last year and a mouse trap at the end of each row of seeds caught a total of 16.

Sounds like a waste of hate to me. They're only doing what slugs do. Although I suppose you could say the same of most van drivers...

That normally slug pellets kill more than just slugs, whereas the wildlife friendly ones don't kill birds and mammals. Are you saying you would like to protect slugs and snails ... cos if so ... let me know your address and I'll post you all the ones I find (and I have in the past caught over 100 in one go on the grass after rain).
