After finally buying my bike (waiting for delivery) I have started to get some spares & accessories needed for the commute to and from work.

So far I have:

* I have got a good set of lights (as I finish work as late as 4am)
* Set of waterproofs
* Pump
* Puncture repair kit

Now I was thinking I need a few inner-tubes. I have no idea what to get, I have read that anything will do except the light/extra light ones. Can anyone recommend a cheap but good ones to go for? (700c)

Also, the bike I will be getting will probably have bog standard racing tyres, which will be the first thing I will upgrade (then the wheels later on). Any recommendation for some decent 700c tyres?

So what's in your rucksack?

I would add a set of Allen Keys and a pair of Tyre Levers to the list and you should be set.

Spare tubes are also a must for me, but the size and make of tyres is up to you and the type of bike you're using.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

If you're planning to carry inner-tubes, then leave the puncture repair kit out of the rucksack. You can replace tubes on the spot, then repair the punctured tube at your leisure at home.

You could, but I wouldn't, I'd take both. The repair kit is good if you run out of inner tubes, and the inner tubes are good if your current tube has a valve/tube separation. Besides, a repair kit is so small and light it's not worth leaving out.

I use Continental tubes, no idea if they're better than any others but they seem pretty good.
Latex gloves for tube changing.
Pack of 10 wet wipes because, well, you never know.
Cable ties.
Duct tape wrapped around pump handle.
Power links.
Topeak Alien multi-tool.
