People who think its acceptable to walk three abreast on a shared path leaving you barely any room for anyone else to squeeze past let alone a cyclist and refusing to move out of the way despite sounding the bell politely to let them know of your approach. Then having the nerve to be rude when your have to forcibly squeeze past them from the side, risk falling into the river and temporarily cutting them up as you straighten up.
I rang my bell once, a few yards away on my approach. One of the 3 turned around and saw me and carried on walking. I rang a few more times as i got closer, I was ignored again, by that time I was riding at such a slow pace behind them I risked losing my balance.
They didnt move so i deliberately squeezed past them. She mumbled an insult directed at me as i was forced to squeeze past so i stopped and turned the bike around to block their path and gave her a peice of my mind.
"Madam, This path here is a shared path, Its for everyone to use. I have no problem you walking three abreast and talking with your friends but when a cyclist or someone else wants to go past you when the path is already quite narrow and rings the bell to make you aware of their approach and you dont move - its very rude. Not only that you had the audacity to mumble an insult directly aimed at me as i squeezed past despite me ringing my bell a few times and waiting patiently for you to move out of the way.
While I have the patience & thick skin to ignore such insults, the next cyclist you try this behaviour on might end up throwing you in the river.
Thank you and have a nice evening."
