40 miles each way. Not a bike though, quadricycle which was then ridden home.
Seller thought & said I was nuts for even considering wanting to cycle back home.

Previous attempt at getting the same, involved a trip to London, only to find that the shop didn't actually have one in stock. They lost the sale and I'd to wait a further two years before actually buying one.

I did a 550-mile round trip in a day, from Leigh on Sea to Bideford to collect an absolutely beautiful Motobecane, and a 320-mile one to Derby for a similarly lovely Raleigh. It did make me think back to being a kid in the 70's, when Somerset to Yorkshire was a 2-day trip up the A38, planned like a military operation with an overnight stop in Burton-upon-Trent!

About 4000km, when living in Trinidad I didn't want to pay ridiculous shipping and import taxes and so flew back to Houston to pick up a bike I bought online from California. I think I saved about $1000.

Well that's my 4 hour round trip completely outclassed then!
You want to try a city centre with something like this
