What's the point of blue LEDs in car windscreens?

Do the blue LED lighting effects and LEDs illuminating car and lorry windscreens serve any useful purpose or are they just bling?

I've Googled and drawn a blank apart from the fact that blue LED screen wash nozzles cost between £22 and £25.

It is illegal to show any colour light to the front except white, unless it is a flashing amber light to indicate turning. The blue lights are an accessory for the hard of thinking.
