whats the weekend got in plan for you

Highlight of the weekend should be picking up my girlfriend's new Mini convertible. She's not the most confident driver so I've got the job of driving it home from the showroom Sunny day forecast tomorrow so I may well go the long way home and have my first ever long-ish drive in a car with the roof down. Quite how I've got to middle age without having done this before I'm not sure!

She's not that lacking in confidence, but wants to get used to driving it on roads she knows (the dealer is a little way from where she lives). She's a low mileage driver - comfortable with what she does but no great desire to go further or faster. Which does beg the question why she's spending about 10x more than she needs to on a car, but hey, it's her money

My mum's neighbour only used to use her car to drive down one road to the supermarket and back. She was reluctant to drive anywhere else because she was too frightened of the traffic. In the end she got rid of it when we pointed out that there was a bus to the supermarket which stopped 50 yards down the road from her!

She's not that bad, honest! Arguably (without wanting to re-ignite a debate that's been done to death) she needs a car, for reasons I won't go into on here.

My wife and I are riding from Market Harborough to Northhampton on Saturday (weather forecast it brill) then I'm taking my cassette off on Sunday as my chain guard has come loose and its rattling. I have to pick up my HTC phone from the repairers and put it on Gumtree.

The tunnels really freaked me out last time I came down through them, warm sunny day but in the tunnels there was a mist just sitting there making everything dull and damp. Enjoy though.

Manflu dependant this weekend judging by the way I feel at the moment but plan is - Bootfair in the morning followed by a ride around Salcey with the wife and baby toddler. Sunday anything could happen (but I'll probably spend the day sat in front of the telly)

F*** the planet, I'm off to eastern Crete tomorrow with Mrs G. for a bit of sun. No internet, no phone, just a few books and loads of wine. Just hope I can find somewhere to hire a bike! With any luck the €Yoyo will finally collapse completely and we'll be stranded there indefinately.

Sat pm = picking Daughter up from dancing then visiting my folks

Sun am = 40 mile hilly ride (weather permitting), route HERE

Sun pm = dog walk then minting the track bike ready for next session

10 minutes time, head off to Hyde Park Corner for the FNRttC to Brighton.
Saturday. Have brekkie in Brighton and ride back home.
The weather is looking good.
Should be a nice 120+ miles for the ride.

Sounds like my Mother in-law. She doesn't do roundabouts so is basically stranded driving within about a 20 square mile, roundabout free zone. If she lived in Milton Keynes or Basingstoke she'd be well stuffed!
