Got v drunk one night in Greece as a young man, and fancied a haircut. My equally drunk friend had a go, with a pair of blunt scissors and a penknife. The next morning I looked like I'd been in a nuclear accident, or started chemotherapy. Had to have the lot shaved off, and 'start again'. Returned to Blighty a few days later, where I was due to give my sister away at her wedding... she was not best pleased with my new 'convict-chic' look (though these days a shaved head is so common it's not an issue)....

A guy I once knew got drunk in Greece and shaved off one side of his head and the other side of his full-length beard. Promptly arrested by the police, he was given the choice of shaving off the rest or staying in jail until it all grew back.

I'm sure there's some joke in there somewhere, Yenners...;)

My 'best' worst cut was the one that saw me through most of my School days... yep, it was a "Mum Special".

It's on another thread somewhere... I can't bring myself to go looking for it and to repost it here though.

Self-inflicted when I was at school. I got out of the habit of going to the hairdressers one summer and took it upon myself to do it. Was ok until it rained, then everything sprouted up like an inverted broom.

The first time I went to the Southern Hemisphere it was decided at one party that I should have a crossing the line haircut. This was done, along with much drinking by the "barbers" and not only did I have a very bad haircut but the tip of my right ear was also removed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh this is bringing back so much childhood pain...;)

I too was the lucky incumbent/recipient (not sure of the right word) of the 70's bowl cut, blow dried and shaped by my mum to the nth degree. MY GOD HOW I HATED IT. Cue going to secondary school, full of trendy people, and there I still was with my effing bowl cut until the age of 14 when I finally pursuaded my mum to let me have something remotely fashionable. "no you're not having your hair cut above your ears" FFS  She also insisted on uying me regulation knee high school socks, while everyone else was wearing over the knee socks or thick tights. GAH.
