whats this bit called

right i have a set of shimano exage aero brake levers (not sti's) from the late 80's , the hoods are scrap . i can see loads of hudz ones on the net but do they include the dark grey bits in pic below between the hoods and levers if not how do i get them as i have a gap instead and it looks odd to say the least

I may be wrong but I don't think the Hudz will fit - they appear to be for recent Shimano levers. I replaced my early 90s Exage 500 levers, when the grey plastic part disintegrated, with Tektro ones, but I see that Chain Reaction have some R400 ones - similar looking to yours - at £11 each at the moment.

Is the dark grey bit metallic or plastic ? looks to me like the body of the brake lever.

not sure as it has gone , picture taken from the net , but geussins plasticky

Definitely plastic on my Exage 500 levers - but could almost be mistaken for alloy.

That dark resin bit is separate from the alloy housing. (I've just spent this evening putting some ancient Exage levers back on my new pub bike.) Would look great with some gum-coloured hoods!

...I see that Chain Reaction have some R400 ones - similar looking to yours - at £11 each at the moment.

Or a pair for £31.99!
