Petrol prices are weird

long ago we always had the cheapest prices anywhere near here - always lower

and the Esso station near us was always the cheapest around
which forced the Tesco, ASDA etc to try to match them

Then after a while the Esso station started to still be the first to lower its price
but the supermarkets responded quickly to match it
Then drop by another penny

now that still happens but the prices are now slightly higher than the lowest elsewhere
which is annoying

On a slightly different note, we are on oil heating and called our supplier just now to top up our tank after the winter usage as usual.

Panic buying of domestic heating oil apparently. Usually deliver next day but now can’t deliver for 2weeks. Also can’t give us a price per litre as that will be given 2 days before delivery.

No reason, yet, except for a bit of profiteering!

Yes - the oil for the petrol currently in the pumps came through the straits months/weeks ago

so any price increase not is just big companies doing what big companies do

watch for the price dropping MUCH slower once the price of crude drops after all this is sorted

Yep, a couple pence a litre 'hike' here. In reality, that means an extra £1 to fill the tank.
Im not really bothered about that particually, its the cynical way prices go up before those increases are even on the shipping, let alone in the country, in a tanker, let alone the forecourt !!!

Saturday 7th

Filled up the Kodiaq on Tuesday (as my daughter would confirm, l top it up at circa the 3/4 full mark)
It was £1.42 diesel

I’ve just been walking the dog & came back up the ‘main’ road (was A655, before that was affixed to the bypass)
One garage (which was in the news a while ago) was £1.47diesel

The Texaco, further down towards the M62 was £1.67 diesel
