Even though the wholesale price is down...

OPEC have been deliberately running under capacity for some time to inflate prices. If Iran were, say, nuked out of existant that would only be a loss of a nominal 3% of the entire worlds output and OPEC could easily raise output to cover that. The retailers use the weakest and most lame of excuses to bend the market over and insert the long hard rod of increased prices up their cusotmers nethers.

I don't know why all fuel stations don't do pay at pump to stop this nonsense.

Did you know some less scrupulous forecourts used to dock the cost of drive-offs out of staff wages, as if theres anything a cashier could do to stop them. Not sure if that still goes on,

Almost all of the ones that do offer pay at pump also offer the choice of pay at kiosk. It would only stop this sort of thing if the only option was pay at pump.

In some countries, you are normally expected to go in and get your payment validated before you can actually fill up.

Orton Centre (Peterborough) station sitting at £1.34 for E10. It's edged up a few pence over the last couple weeks after what seems like quite a while of stability.
Most other local garages sit a few pence dearer, with the exception of Sainsbury's near Perkins engines and a small filling station on Padholme Road which are (usually) consistently the cheapest around Peterborough.
