I wouldnt worry about it because if Royal Mail put up the price of postage by how much they want to next year they wont have any customers anyway.
I'm sorry, but when you can post a letter from Lands End to get to John o Groats the next day for less than a quid I think thats bloody good value.
And before you come back saying that it hardly gets there the next day, Royal Mail recently exceeded their 97% next day delivery rate. And that by going on strike (the last national strike was 2007, hardly recent!) it might of inconvenienced you a small bit but I'm entitled to fair pay and decent working conditions the same as anyone else.

I work in a Post Office, sometimes there is only one member of staff on. If we have a customer with a dozen or more packets, not unusual, it can be very frustrating for some poor old pensioner stood in a queue for twenty minutes waiting for their pension or a few stamps. We did have a sign, in no way sarcastic, saying no more than five packets or parcels when there is only one member of staff on but were told by our area manager to take it down.
It's also frustrating for us non-pensioners and non-benefit claimants having to queue behind all these other people, even though they are just going about their own business, (as am I). At the end of the day the PO is a service industry, and in that way you have to serve what ever comes through the door, be that the blue rinse brigade or a pile of eBay parcels.
There are things I don't like to do in my day to day life, but I'd expect a severe reprimand, (if not dismissal) if I was utterly rude to a customer and suggested they came back when I was less busy!

I didnt say it wasnt, but the simple fact is that higher carriage prices will force a lot of small traders out of business. Joe public only wants to pay so much to get online purchases delivered and a small business does not have access to a low enough pricing structure from the couriers to compete.

Quite right too. A Post Office exists to take letters, parcels and packages without the imposition of quotas. When I worked in retail, one of my co-workers asked if customers could bring their dogs into the (non-food) store. The area manager's response was 'They could bring a bloody camel in as long as they spend their money with us'

Here for rides.
I remember when I sold a load of DVD's on eBay when I was in Plymouth. Took them down to the post office. Must have been 30 packages. The woman was furious that I had brought so many.
I don't see what the problem was. After all I was paying for the postage.
I've had a similar experience in the Crown Post Office in Horsham. At one time there was even a similar sign. I just ignored the moaning staff and got on with my life. These days I use a sub-PO in a village near work, the Crown PO in that town being utterly uselessly understaffed at lunch times when I can get there. One day in the sub-PO a tweed and twinset Bunty type kicked off at how long my transaction was taking and the guy who owned the shop asked her to leave!

Sadly they are all doing it

Mate had a quote to ship a bike via dhl for £800

From mainland uk to mainland uk

Wtf ???
Sounds like an error was made. I just shipped nearly 40 kilos via Parcel Monkey, via DHL to Cyprus via airfreight....it only cost circa £180...insured up to £1000.

Post Offices...they come in two types. Local town offices, surly staff, our ones a nightmare...then there's the subpost offices run by a family usually. I have one twice as far away as my local, but the service is awesome. Some people bring a sack of ebay stuff, literally a sackful, leave them with him, he does all the gubbins, they collect the reciepts later. Now thats service. He says if it wasn't for ebay, he'd struggle.

It' not a question of moaning staff, I'm there anyway, doesn't matter to me who I'm serving, just trying to show consideration for the less able and elderly, who may not be able to stand for long periods.

India's tiffin men. They are far more accurate in their deliveries than RM according to Top Gear.

Think of what it would do for the unemployment figures and obesity reduction. Two birds killed with one stone.
