Dickey Betts (Allman Brothers) doin' his thang on a solo LP, great cover shot too!

Thanks for posting that I'll have to dig out the vinyl and have a play once the new shelving has arrived and my record deck can be resurrected.

Check out the signature for a rather epic and mesmerising improvised freight-train groove-ride guitar solo - remember he's making it all up on the spot! If only it was on film too.....

Also now on Youtube, thankfully (the audio, that is - oh, and listen with headphones, eyes closed and no distractions for the full effect):

Tom Verlaine - breakin' in my heart (it also has a stonking guitar fade out as well)
Television - everything they recorded.

Indeed! See No Evil has a blinder (although I think it's Richard Lloyd rather than Tom Verlaine) - for the uninitiated, it starts at 1'51":

Incidentally, have you heard the Breakin' In My Heart on the live CD from Verlaine's Miller's Tale Anthology? The guitar work is outstanding, as it is in Always from the same CD.

How about these stringed instruments??

Little Jack Slade by The Dixie Chicks
We saw them in Manchester a few years ago, & they were absolutely superb!
It wasn't long after all the furore over the comments about Georg bush that they made (& they were promoting the 'Home' CD)

Mandolin, 5-string Banjo & Double-Bass
Oh! & a magniificent (if a overweight here) Steve Earle

The Darkness - Growing On Me.

I don't care what anyone thinks; the guitar on that track is absolutely immense from start to finish.
