Hi

I've done a few tours in France now.

I love the freedom of cyclo camping but even though I love France I fancy touring somewhere different in Europe this year.

I use my bike to commute daily, ride at weekends, I'm in reasonable shape for a forty something and will be cycling alone unless anyone wants to join me/meet me along the way.

Here's what's on my tick list;

- 50 miles (ish) a day with 5 or 6 rest days.
- maximum 3 weeks in August.
- camping with occasional bed & breakfast in bigger cities.
- great scenery.
- not too many mountain climbs.

I'd love to hear your suggestions/favourite tours as a catalyst to get me planning.

My initial thoughts are the Eurovelo 5 to the south of Italy or the Camino de Santiago (but cycling this route feels like a cheat).

As always, thanks in advance for any info.

Slovenia was a gem.
And so was Portugal.

Spain even north is potentially very hot. Definitely avoid the Med coast completely. North coast and Picos de Europa worth a look. Campsites are few and far between inland. The best place I have been is Corsica but it will be hot. www.crazyguyonabike.com/julian for my offerings

Germany would be well worth a look. Uber organised of course, good campsites. Switzerland too

I did the North Sea Coastal path - I can recommend that.
So have I. I would not recommend particularily.
Great cycling, but the view is the same all the way, sea on one side, dunes on the other, and every village looks the same, to such an extent that we told a friend that we would meet "in the center of the village, by the white church with the square tower next to the Spa supermarket" she assumed we had been there before,

With the benifit of hindsight I would have headed east towards Copenhagen, some of the islands are supposed to be wonderful
