I've got this strange cycling routine. I decided about 3 years ago that I'd ''ride every road'' in my area. Since then I've ridden every cyclable road (no tunnels or motorway-style roads) in an 80 square mile area of where I live.
Now clearly, this little project is completely impossible to complete, but at least I can slowly make it bigger and I get an odd pleasure out of knowing that in some way it's ''my London,'' even if I very often have no idea where I am within the area (all I know is that I've been here before...). I've learnt all-too intimately that the domestic urban ideal is to live in a dead end you can drive to. And I'm now pretty good at tight U-turns. Also, farting around in dead-end streets really makes your average speed take a nose dive at first.
So, is there anybody apart from me who's decided to ''own ''every road around their home? Or have you got a dafter project?
