From the big smiley at the end of "What is that Arch?" I kind of assumed Snapper was poking fun at my typo and would get the joke in my reply. Seems I was wrong perhaps.

For me, i really want to do the Plymouth Dakar rally. I've just never found anyone that wants to do it with me. Grrrr

The rules:


1:

Competing cars must cost less than £100.​

Maximum budget for the vehicle Challenge preparation: £15​

3:

Once the Challenge is underway, there will be no form of formal assistance from the organisers in any way - Teams are

on their own.​

4:

All of vehicles that make the full distance to Tashkent, Bamako and Banjul MUST be handed over to the Challenge Control Group in the appropriate jurisdiction, to be auctioned under controlled conditions in aid of local Charities. Failure to comply may result in legal action by local Customs agencies against guilty participants.​

5:

All vehicles must be LEFT-HAND DRIVE for the Banjul Challenge!!

LHD is the preference for the Timbuktu and Silk Road Challenges, but not essential.

That's the sort of thing my late boyfriend would talk about doing. One of his grand schemes, when a friend got engaged to a Russian girl, was to buy an old Routemaster bus, fill it with mates and drive it across Europe and Mogolia via every beer festival he could find, by way of a stag do. Perhaps fortunately, the engagement was eventually called off, before any buses were purchased....

My seemingly impossible task would be to break 30mph on my bike. If you've seen me going downhill you'll understand. I did get up to 29.5mph earlier this year desperately rushing to catch a train and knowing the road was clear with an uphill to stop me. Hopefully I'll find a way to overcome my fears.

Weirdly, I could imagine cycling round the world. I'm better at things that require stamina rather than speed.

One 'impossible' I would like to be able to do is to explore the outer planets of the solar system.

I'd do it as a one way trip if I could and it were allowed but I would get travel sick and chuck up everywhere, not a nice thought especially in weightless conditions.

Interestingly I have discovered that I don't have a fear of heights, I have a fear of falling. It means that I can't stand on a slightly wobbly stool but will happily climb a scaffold tower that is well fixed and stable.

Trust me, if I am in the team we WON'T be lacking weight.

I don't think we can do mixed skeleton bob in tandem, I think only luge can be tandem, and then not mixed.

Still would be fun though.

Luge is flat on the back feet first - skeleton is face down head first - bob is 2 or 4 man/woman in a 'submarine'

There's a bobsleigh run a couple of hours from me but i can't find anyone to come with me. Maybe i'll ask Dayvo when (if) he gets back from Oz. Mind you i'm sure Kirstie would be a little easier on the eye in a rubber suit than he would.

That seems perfectly rational to me - self-preservation. I feel queasy even watching someone up high on the TV.
