What's your top speed for flat road?

Just wondering what people's top speed is on flat road?

managed just over 25 mph on tandem for about a mile before both sets of legs gave up the ghost and we had to coast home !

42mph one way, 4mph when we turned back into the wind with some many guys having to get off and walk. Should not really have gone out that day.

I can get to 22 -24 mph but then it gets scary, or the flat road runs out!

It all depends on how fast the tractor that I am drafting is going.

Sadly round our way they only seem to go about 28mph, which allows for much freewheeling. I am looking forward to the next generation of tractors capable of 30+

On a flat road, sans tractor, I have been know to get up to around 30, but not for long and not often as I tend not to sprint much while out riding solo.

Just wondering what people's top speed is on flat road?

Haven't bothered with a cycle computer for a few years, but have done 50 km/h for a while without significant wind assistance. It was in the Massif Central but the road was fairly flat, i.e. following a contour.

Also did 20 miles in 1 hour which included traversing York and going on to Easingwold. It was a windless day to all intents and purposes and I was riding a tourer! Maybe that was my finest hour?

I'd remembered it was there so Mrs A_T was a bit surprised when I set off as fast as I could.... that's as fast as I could get my old bike moving.... had to stop for a breather after!

20-23 I can sustain no problem in tempo zones providing its not to stiff a headwind. Upto 26/27ish for 20 mins or so, anything else is a sprint for me.
