Is it possible to put a rear quick release axle in a front wheel?
I want to do this so I have a longer Q/R axle that may be supported on one side.

Dont know the answer, but do you mean the axle or the qr skewer?

Have you got a front hub which is the same width (eg 130mm)? Have you got a fork with 130mm between the drop-outs?
I think you'll need to be clearer about your desired outcome to get a useful answer.
ETA (after @fossyant 's answer): The answer is YES. One could "put a rear QR axle [skewer] in[to] a front wheel [hub]". But having inserted the axle in the fork, one wouldn't be able to tighten it sufficiently to have any effect.

I guess you could always roll more thread on to the skewer but I'm struggling to see the point without a bit more info

QR hollow axles are shorter than the distance between the frame dropouts. The QR lever squeezes the dropouts onto the axle cone locknuts. If the axle is longer is protrudes from the dropouts and you cannot compress them onto the locknut.

QR hollow axles are shorter than the distance between the frame dropouts plus twice the thickness of the fork dropouts (2 x 6mm, say).

Hope you don't mind this slightly pedantic correction (seeing we can get nowhere with the OP question being so opaque). Standard distance between fork dropouts is 100mm but the hollow (for QR skewer) axle is 108-110mm, typically.
