im on the lookout to replace my current hand built workhorses magic open pro/105 hubs.

I'm around 120kgs so strength is most important.

I've spoken to Harry rowland(who built my current wheels) and he won't offer up a different option.

DCR has offered up an aero rim (http://www.wiggle.co.uk/h-plus-son-sl42-road-rim/) on his own brand hubs (anybody know what these are?) which I quite fancy.

Just wondering if there is any other specialist builder I should look out for?

Vote for DCR wheels, easy to deal with, built just what I wanted:

h plus son 25mm Archetypes on. Son28 Dynohub and Velo Orange touring hub at the rear.
Look great, so far absolutely trouble free. The 25mm rims work a treat with 28c Tyres.

Builders don't come better than Harry Rowland but I don't agree with his choice of rim for a heavy rider.

I agree with DCR on his choice of rim. No comment on choice of hub though.

If a workhorse is of primary importanse then I'd go for a touring rim, something built to carry lots of weight, something like www.spacycles.co.uk/products.php?plid=m2b0s116p67

But if you fancy something nicer then something like this www.bricklanebikes.co.uk/velocity-deep-v-700c-velocity-logo-black

The rims DCR suggested or even the H Plus Son Archetype.... this rim has a very thick spoke bed and I've had very good results using thrse rims with heavy riders.

As for hubs, 36 holes, the shimano 105,

Something like this www.wiggle.co.uk/miche-primato-pair-of-road-hubs/

Or even the Novatec A171 and 172.
