Wheel scewers, do both ends screw off completely ?

I was cleaning the wheels quite thoroughly this morning.

I decided to check that the quick release lever & the nut on the other end, were screwed on by an equal amount along the scewer.

For example, I did not want one end to only be on by a couple of threads with the risk of it coming off during a ride.

I decided to remove both ends, then screw back on with equal turns. The locking leaver on both wheels does not come off.In fact, it would appear that the nut on the other end is the only part that screws. Is this normal?

Totally normal. I don't think I have even seen a QR where the lever could be 'unscrewed'.

if the lever end comes off, the skewer is broken.
