Are you sure your Dad isn't losing his marbles? Seriously. It's what people do when they are heading for early dementia. My own Dad nearly set the house on fire a couple of times.

I used to do a bit if fire investigagtion, following electrical fires, in council and housing association homes.

On many occasions I found faults to be ranging from wear and tear, accidental damage and poor original installation. But mostly it was tenant abuse or arson prior to an insurance claim.

Lying about stuff gets found out.


However, as mentioned, do check your dad out for absent mindedness in lieu of plain stupidity as it could be a sign of failing mental faculties.
