I seen countless videos when one cyclist cuts up another cyclist and they end up having an argument or shouting verbal abuse at one another.

I have never been in a confrontational situation as I don't cycle in London but I can imagine people's blood boiling.

Has anyone encountered a confrontational situation with another cyclist?

Cant say i've ever had any bother of fellow cyclists. Any confrontations i've had has been with motorists.

There was a guy on my old commute who I would often meet at exactly the same time and place, he was on the pavement on his BSO at a place where I needed to turn left he would constantly just ride straight across the road forcing me to stop, we had words.

I've made mistakes and said sorry to other cyclists, normally two reactions, the nice "it's ok", or the grouchy look ( and if it's my fault then I deserve that), but never anything else.

Cyclist coming at me in the cycle lane because they're in the wrong cycle lane, cyclists cutting across my path as they ignore the Highway Code, nearly crashing into cyclists wearing black and with no lights when it's dark etc etc. I 've had plenty of hate thoughts about them but i choose to hope they meet someone who'll "sort 'em" rather than me having a confrontation with them!

Here in the US I have little races with cyclist who sometimes talk about how awesome they are as i pass them, or we start drafting each other and come off as equals, but that is about as far of a confrontation as i ever get.

Just an example of the fact that total ars----s can be found everywhere and they use all forms of transport.

Yes! I proper attacked another cyclist the other week, He had over took me earlier on and I was now right behind him drafting, a bend was coming up, he took it slow, I was pissed because there was no way around, I came around the corner and he was still right in front of me, after exiting the bend I thought "I could take this fool out", so on the straight I took my chance and attacked him. He didn’t stand a chance.

When I saw the title of this thread all I could think of was this guy saying it.

The only cross words I have had between me and another cyclist was when I was on my homeward commute a few weeks ago.

Traffic was at barely walking pace and had been was over half a mile and I was passing to the outside of the line of traffic (that being by far the best place due to the terrible potholes (as well as the usual hazards) I would have encountered passing kerb side.

As I approach a cart length gap in traffic another cyclist, who have obviously got fed up of meandering through the kerb side hazards, shot to the outside and had to brake sharply due to me already occupying that spot. He hurled some sarcastic remark along the lines of 'that was bright!'. Unsure of what he said i asked him to repeat it and got a short rant from him. Not wishing to waste my time talking to him I simply stated that he was the 'individual at fault' and road on.

Other that that I've have no cyclist related issues aside from the usual red light jumpers.

If I am on my road bike & riding along the Aire Valley in lycra, roadies offer me nothing more then pleasantries, fine. However, if on the same route and I am riding my hybrid, wearing t-shirt & shorts, with pannier full of shopping, some uber roadies are unable to pass me without offering unsolicited advice (aka bollox), it drives me crazy. :cursing: I just can't be bothered and have settled on, "**** off, big nose" as a standard reply, if they stop then so much the better.
