Chucking it down again, rainy Manchester.
Almost put the heating on this evening, in June!!
In the winter I heat this room to 18-19 degrees C. It is June 9th and the temperature has climbed in here from 14 degrees this morning to a positively balmy...

... 16.9 degrees! (I am not going to put the heating on again though until at least September.) :cold:

Heck,16.9 Celsius equals 62.4 Fahrenheit. I've just turned my heating off after two and a half hours, with it peaking at 78 Fahrenheit/25.5 Celsius. I find a few hours of heating keeps that damp air feeling at bay.

I have just gone out to wheel the waste bin out and it's the nice almost water in the air mind of wet that makes it cold but nice when camping in a tent. I like camping in the rain, that sort of day where you wait for the heavy rain to die down to just light rain so you can go to the toilet.

I love the way this not heavy rain but also not that drizzly rain that wets you out makes the air feel cleaner. Rain doesn't have to be a problem or negative.

Sounds like the words of a southerner.
When you get the stuff falling from the sky constantly for 8 months of the year, then regularly for the other 4 months, then yes; it IS a problem!!!
Cannot get a dry spell to paint the outside of my flat. Cycling is shite. Motorbiking also shite. Roofers cannot get repairs done so finding one to do work is almost impossible. I work as a maintenance person with grounds to look after, another impossible task. Weeds grow like wildfire, and again getting anything painted - when are you supposed to do it?
I could go on, but with my sunny, positive outlook, I wouldn't want to give the wrong impression .

Weeds grow like wildfire,

Yes, next doors Mares Tail keeps popping up in my garden. Am out everyday with weedkiller each time I see a new one.

They just won't put weedkiller on the stuff, they strim it, which is probably the worst thing you can do as it just promotes more growth!

Hate that stuff with a vengeance!! It has taken over the grounds at my work, and I am reliably informed there is nothing you can do about it; it laughs in the face of weedkiller because it's roots are so deep. You can kill the visible part for a few weeks, but it WILL come back!

Yes we need to go back to the days of Sodium Chlorate weed killer, that would do it!

If I heated my house to 25.5 C then I would be as damp from sweating as if I had fallen off a boat into a bay!

My sister used to heat her place to 23 C in the winter and that was bad enough. I would have to wear lightweight shorts and t-shirt to put up with that! I never understand why people heat rooms to temperatures higher than they would get to in a warm summer.

We were supposed to have the north wall of our house painted this year but the company who were to do it have asked if they can do it next year as they're so far behind. No problem for us.

A small man and son jobbing builder we use has not been able to string 3 consecutive days of exterior work together since October last year.

Local farmers have had terrible problems with lambs being unable to get about in waterlogged fields etc.

Cumbria tourist business reports indicate high number of holiday cancelations due to poor weather.

No upsides to constant rain here either.

We've fallen lucky with camping this year - one or two wet nights, but it's been dry packing away (which is a godsend as I'm really not sure how we would dry our tent). We've had some concerns with the fields - mainly for vehicle access so I've been careful where leaving the car. Most sites have struggled early season with how wet the ground has been. - Even my rear garden is squashy - it's no where near drying out.

Got my daughter's 21st party BBQ at home at the end of the month. We've managed before when the weather hasn't been great but my lawn is a bit too soggy to take lots of people - you can't put a chair on it at present. At least I can borrow my son's 6x3m gazebo for cooking under (on the driveway)
