floods again on the lanes ,although the weather has picked up nicely this afternoon i was too tired after this mornings time at the grindstone so opted to have a nap instead of getting the bike out

Yeah, once you are out the sun you feel how cold the wind is. Still, I managed my monthly 50k ride in shorts today, so can't complain.

"Improving" (from a very low base) doesn't mean a heatwave!
For us, it means we might get a couple of dry days (but don't be surprised if we still get some showers) on Thursday/Friday. Then it's back to the usual - rain for the weekend.

SE Lakes. Cold and damp. Just had a rain shower. Depressing really and doesn’t seem to be an end to it.
