I did my 15 miles in this morning, I think the wind was across or behind most of the way, only third time I've done it, but 6 minutes faster than before and nicely under the hour.
We will see how the journey home tomorrow is! 300 feet more climbing coming back.

Well I left the bike at home, about 16 miles of the round journey is on a very busy dual carriageway, felt really claustraphobic in the car though. I did have a scare yesterday, went in the car to collect a rescue dog from the kennels and for once parked further down than my usual space, lucky I did a massive tree fell exactly where the car should have been parked.

Can I recommend clean living and boyish charm?

Rode to work yesterday with a howling gale at my back - once over the hill it was just a matter of holding tight to the handlebars, pedalling was superfluous. I was dreading the return trip.... but about 10.30 the wind just went!

Today the wind was stronger if anything - flying wheely bins were a real hazard - but it's getting calmer by the minute.

Somebody, somewhere likes me!

We went for a 100 miler yesterday through the Dorset countryside. All the bad hills ( I know, all hills are bad! )seemed to have a head wind especially when we got to the top!!!Although it was good fun when it was a tailwind, although it always seems to be less of them  why? I don't pity you guys up country though with the gales, stay safe x

Just a few miles each way to work and back today. It did feel like the wind was blowing from every direction - one minute it was attacking me from the side, the next it was full on against me. That said, there was one point when it seemed to be behind me, which helped me steam my way up a longish hill on the way home. Or it could be my strong, muscular thighs (I wish).

I rode in today. 39mph ave with 57mph gusts on the way in (and heavy rain stinging my face). 40mph ave 56mph gusts on the way home. I ride along the coast so it was mainly side winds, although my last mile on the way in straight at the wind down an exposed road was not fun.

Too much wind - when i had to stop and walk back in November as I couldn't keep the bike upright.

Its been pretty bad for about a week now and looks set to stay that way till next week.

Last year any sorted of wind had me at a crawl , this year seems different , yesterday was pretty nasty, yet I still averaged 17.4 Mph (normally closer to 19 Mph on the same route, but) and when I got to work, it left me feeling pretty happy that it hadnt beaten me like in previous years.

So wind is now my best training friend, ever !

(God I'm gonna regret that im sure)

This morning on the town moor in Newcastle. Completely open. Had to ride tilted to the right to counteract the crosswind.

Sometimes I'm very very glad to be riding a recumbent. This weekend was one of those! It's still hard work into wind, but so much less so than on an upright, and the more the headwind, the bigger my advantage.

I'm still slightly amazed that on the recumbent I seem to feel side gusts only about as much as on my Langster, despite having tailbox, disc wheel and deep section front wheel on the bent. Not exactly sure why that is...

I popped out to Thornaby and back today, 10 miles of both trail and cycle track, and about 600 yards of road.

Going there was fine, 24.3 mph cruise along the cycle track parallel to the A66, on MTB knobblys. I could have gone faster if I'd been mental about it. It felt great and I was thinking it must be brilliant on a nice light roadie

On the way back the wind was in my face and I managed something pathetic like 8 mph on the same bit.

Still, another 10 miles done and another 858 calories burned that I wouldn't have if I'd stayed in, according to the Forerunner, though I take that figure with a pinch of salt. After all, how does it know?
