I'm still slightly amazed that on the recumbent I seem to feel side gusts only about as much as on my Langster, despite having tailbox, disc wheel and deep section front wheel on the bent. Not exactly sure why that is...
It's probably because you are lower to the ground, so a given side force will exert a smaller moment (rotational force) about the tyre/road contact point. (It's proportional to the height at which the force is exerted).

Yeah, but then why do disc wheels affect uprights so much? They're no higher on uprights?

To answer the question in the title, I find that curried Brussels Sprouts can do it.

I'm really sorry, but someone had to crack eventually. I know it's not funny in itself, but going back and reading all the responses with this in mind is rather amusing, at least to my childish sense of humour.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Riding home yesterday i had a section where the cross wind made me cycle along leaning as if i was going around a corner for a good mile, then i turned into it the rest of the way home , panniers and a cross wind make for a fun day

In between here and there
The wind finished me off yesterday, first attempt at a full week of cycling to work, felt fairly fresh yesterday morning setting off, but by last night my legs and brain were blown. Down south as well so not as windy as the north but enough to add 8-10 mins to my journey that felt like a life time!

I hate running that far behind does my head in.
