Blimey, it's chuffing windy out there now and just started to hammer it down.

Bring on the commute home ;)

It really bright sunshine here but its really windy too; especially down at my flat. The limited buildings seem to channel the wind.

Edit: According to the forecast we're not getting the heavy rain till after 3pm, right in time for my commute  and 29mph winds are also predicted but thats lighter than the 46mph gust we had this morning.

Aye 40mph here also, although notice they got 65mph predicted on the South coast. Will be fun anyhow!

Big wind and rain forecast for here. It will be a headwind for the way home also. This'll be me .... a little bit forwards, and then a bit backwards. ;)

Edit: course it's windy and rainy now, it's just not expected to ease up is all.

There is no way I'm going out in this weather.

That's what I've got 2 cars for.

There is no way I will be taking the car. Roads will be blocked due to muppets driving too fast in the wet and if too strong they close the Orwell Bridge on the A14 ;) This means everyone driving through the centre of Ipswich which is a nightmare in normal rush hour let alone when the above happens. Mr's FFFF just phoned up to ask if I wanted her to come out and pick me up in the car, as usual I declined.

It's days like this when you really appreciate how much fun it is on a bike

Today was going to be my first day of a first-ever 'three days of cycle commuting' week, with the first-ever 'consecutive days of cycle commuting' Monday/Tuesday.
Decided not to, when I realised I'd be cycling home in very wet, very windy conditions.

Feel dreadful for wussing out though. I'm off work on Friday, so I have Tues/Weds/Thurs which look OK, rain-wise (though Tues looks a bit blowy). I don't think this'll be my three day commute week after all, but I shall still try to get over this consecutive days hurdle!

Hear hear!! There was some sort of hold up on the dual-carriageway bypass I go near on the way here .. I could see it from the bridleway (runs parallel) that I use and was pointing and laughing at the two lanes of stationary traffic. Despite getting wet, I was still happier on the bike.

My wife just rung me giving me a right old telling off for going on my bike today, she had told me this morning of the weather warning. Looked fine to me. She also said that the main road I have to use on the way home is flooded and to catch the train tonight. trouble is the station is over a mile from the office so either way I will get wet. The good part is the wind will be behind me.

It was quite pleasant first thing. It started raining (a bit) just before I left but was basically OK. It's been pretty grim most of the day though .. I keep looking out and telling myself that the clouds are breaking a bit. But they're not. Ah well, Thursday was a three-wipes (of the glasses) journey home, wonder how tonight will compare?

DS2 was poorly so came with me to office meaning no bike ride. Boy was I glad - 7 mile journey home, 2 accidents (One van off road at right angles into ditch and tree, one van stuck in major pot hole where road has obviously given way) and an amazing amount of water on the roads.
